An inspection is, most generally, an organized examination or formal evaluation exercise. In engineering activities inspection involves the measurements, tests, and gauges applied to certain characteristics in regard to an object or activity.

Planned inspections: are inspections that are a planned walk through or examination of a workplace, selected work area or particular hazards, machinery, tools, equipment and work practices.

Follow-up Inspection: This is an inspection for the specific purpose of re-inspecting items that were not in compliance at the time of the routine inspection. These may occur either 5-days or 1- days after the initial findings.

Inspection means careful evaluation. The primary objective of inspections is meeting customer requirements and preventing defective products from being distributed. It is undeniable that some of the product defects cannot be checked or fixed at the final production stage.
