TIP: Don't wait until the last minute to have your vehicle inspected We recommend that you come anytime within the previous 90 days of the Registrations expiration date. You may register anytime after the inspection has passed in the 90 day time frame.

Welcome to Pine Tree Inspections,


If you have just moved to Texas or you have lived in the area for years, Pine Tree Inspections would like to help you with the process of getting your vehicle inspected and registered with the State of Texas. The following is a list of steps required to accomplish both. We have also provided you a printable list for your Texas Vehicle Inspection. Getting Your State Inspection:



What to bring to your Texas Vehicle Safety Inspection;

PROOF OF INSURANCE
VEHICLE TO BE INSPECTED 
 
For Trailers, show proof of insurance on the vehicle which is pulling the trailer.

Payment:
 Pine Tree Inspection accepts cash only. Texas state law requires that payment is made whether your vehicle passes or fails.  If a RE-inspection is required, this is done free of charge "IF" the repairs are done within 15 days of your initial inspection. 


The inspection process includes the follow;

Current PROOF of INSURANCE is required
All passengers are required to exit the vehicle
Vehicle brake test is performed  by the stat certified state inspector


Vehicle is inspected for the following COMMON items - 
(this is NOT everything - if your vehicle is deemed NOT safe for the road it WILL FAIL Inspection)


3rd Brake MUST work  -   *****   NEW REQUIREMENT AS OF JAN 1, 2017   ***** 
Horn - must work         
Windshield Wipers - not torn more than 1 inch total or old and dry rotted
Mirrors - securely mounted and not busted 
Steering - fully operates left and right
Seat belts - securely mounted not ripped/frayed
Brake system (e-Brake / Parking – beginning with 1960 models)
Tires - 2/32 inch tread depth or more is REQUIRED
Wheel assembly - ALL lug nuts in pace
Exhaust Emissions/System - if vehicle was made with Catalytic Converter it MUST be INSTALLED
High Beam Indicator (beginning with 1948 model vehicles) - must come on when high beams are activated
Tail lamps -  (2) are required - OR - (1) if vehicle is 1959 model or earlier
Stop lamps -  (2) are required - OR - (1) if vehicle is1959 model or earlier
License Plate Lamp - (1)
Rear Red Reflectors -  (2)
Turn Signal Lamps (2) beginning with 1960 model vehicles
Head Lamps - (2) High and Low Beams ARE Required to work
Motor Serial or Vehicle Identification Number -  All models
Window Tint - MUST be 25% or greater on front side windows and above "AS1" line on windshield 
Gas Caps - on vehicles 2-24 model years old must retain pressure
Steering Fluid Level - MUST be with in 1 inch from top of reservoir
Brake Fluid Level - MUST be with in 1 inch from top of reservoir
 

 ANY AND ALL OTHER SAFETY ITEMS WILL BE DISCUSSED ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS!
